
Mr. Virgil Mullins, age 92 of Climax, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Rockcastle County, KY on November 12, 1924 the son of Shellie and Lizzie Clark Mullins. He had been a farmer and timber worker, as well as a school bus driver and was a member of Climax Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening and was an avid fan of Boots Randolph. He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy having served on the USS Tryon in the Pacific Theater.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Lou Mullins; his children, June and Elmer Whitler and Liza Annette and Garland French, both of Climax, Shell and Lisa Mullins of Lexington, and Rose and Cletis Brown of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Noah Mullins of Brodhead, Bobby and Peg Mullins of Berea, and Sam and Evelyn Mullins of Climax; and two sisters, Marie Mullins and Beckie and Cecil Northern, both of Kettering, OH. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gracie Mullins; three brothers, Homer, Bennett, and Cecil Mullins; a sister-in-law, Faye Mullins; and a brother-in-law, James Mullins.
